Committee for a Better Argyle will be developing a complete list of priorities for the following year over the next few weeks. In the mean time the following is from the platform that the committee will use to guide itself. First and foremost, Better Argyle looks to support and build the local economy. Second, we look to keep spending and taxes at a low and responsible level. These will be the two main engines to drive the policy of Better Argyle.
Promote Economic Development
• Open Argyle to business
• New business means lowers taxes
• Look at disadvantages of our town and strive to change those factors
• Form a committee of local leaders and citizens with the power to institute an economic development plan
Control Spending to Lower the Tax Burden
• Review the local and county highway systems to cut back on wasteful overlapping
• Control property taxes from rising too fast
• Lower town and village spending
